Q:  Are all versions of Madden using the same engine this year? If not, which ones are different?
A:  The PC engine is totally new to the PC and it's based on last year's PS2 engine. The PS2, Gamecube and Xbox use the new 2002 game engine. Playstation and N64 use revisions of the 32 bit engine.
Q:  Did your programming team feel that you had more working knowledge of the PlayStation 2 capabilities, as opposed to last year?
A:  Sure. The team had a real good handle on the PS2 last year, but we didn't have the time. This year, we didn't have to re-write the render code, but had a base to start on. This allowed us to refine our face pipeline and animation system to fix many of the issues from the 2001 game.
Q:  What sort of features does the PlayStation 2 allow you to include that you weren't able to do in the past?
A:  The graphics on the PS2 are amazing. The fact that it runs at 60 frames per second is hard to believe, given the number of polygons we are pushing. The large memory card is useful, because Madden now tracks stats that have never been tracked before.
