Madden NFLTM 2002 Patch v2.3.1 Update
EA is pleased to announce that Patch v2.3.1 is now available for download.
To Download the Patch:
- Start Madden 2002 with your CD-Rom in the drive.
- Select the UPDATE option on the startup screen.
- Exit when the download is complete.
- Restart Madden 2002 and you're ready to play
Included in Version 2.3.1:
- This patch addresses the issues related to roster file-saving in Windows XP (with patch v2.3 applied).
- Improved performance for Win2K / XP file loading (resolved asynchronous thread scheduling issues).
- Improved defensive AI.
- Passing and catching tuning.
- Improved video card compatibility. With current drivers, even more cards will be compatible with Madden NFL 2002. Specifically, Voodoo3 and ATI cards will not be required to run in Compatibility Mode. Improved compatibility with GeForce 2/3 cards and new Detonator 4 drivers.
- Added three improvements to online play:
- Added a network timeout pop-up, which appears after 10 seconds of inactivity during an online game.
- Fine-tuned online game reporting to address issues with scores not always being reported back to the server.
- Made improvements to the online play that will reduce the amount of lag experienced during gameplay.
- Made two improvements to online Franchise. Saved Franchise games will now store the injury status of players. Also, renegotiation of player salaries when coaching changes are made was addressed.
- Addressed an issue with penalties causing a change of possession.
- Addressed an issue with custom team helmets in Franchise Mode.
- Slider balancing for more realistic gameplay with default slider settings. Fixed the Holding slider so that one notch is not as sensitive.
- Fixed the ability to update to a newer roster file in Season Mode.
- Fixed problem with Coaching Strategy sliders updating correctly in Franchise Mode.
- Fixed problem with client doing a Formation Sub while connected.
- Fixed problem with Online Lobby server timeout pop-up.
- Fixes startup minimization problem. Some users may experience problems with the game starting out minimized. This was a problem with SafeDisc which has been addressed on this update.
